United Kingdom - Liverpool - French Impressionists

'Conversation ' Renoir - Nationalmuseum, Stockholm

'French Impressionists' will give you a rare opportunity to see works usually only on display in Sweden's capital. Works by Renoir, Monet, Degas and Rodin will be amongst some of the artists to be featured in this exhibition of 13 treasured works. This small but exceptional exhibition is made up of a selection of Impressionist and Post-Impressionist pieces from the Walker Art Gallery collection and from Nationalmuseum Stockholm.
Displayed together for the first time, works include Monet's 'Break-up of ice on the Seine' and Renoir's 'Young Parisian Lady', depicting the atmospheric landscapes and studied female form and personalities that inspired so many of the masters of the period. Also part of the exhibition are a selection of bronze sculptures, including two Rodin pieces from the Walker Art Gallery and two examples of Degas' ballet dancer series from Stockholm's collection. Degas' painting 'Woman Ironing', from the Walker, will also introduce visitors to the artist's lesser known laundress paintings, studying the movements of 19th century Parisian women at work. The exhibition will be an intimate study of the artists' innate abilities to capture colour, light and movement in a style that is still much admired amongst today's audiences.
The exhibition is a result of a collaboration between National Museums Liverpool and Nationalmuseum Stockholm.
